Old and renowned, the collection preserved in the Department of Prints and Drawings derives from the Medicean collections. It gathers more than 170,000 prints and drawings dating from the end of the 14th century to the present time, and executed mainly by Italian artists as well as by some remarkable foreign ones.

Exhibition Room: from Tuesday to Sunday (08:15am - 06:00pm)

Study Room:     Monday, Wednesday, Friday (08:30am - 01:30pm)
                         Tuesday and Thursday (08:30am - 05:00pm)

Notices to visitors:

- Temporary closure of the Study Room from the 4th of September to the 6th of November approximately, due to upgrading works to comply with the current security standards.Therefore, some sections of its collection will not be accessible during that period. Users are recommended to communicate in advance the dates of visits and the original works they wish to consult, along with their respective authors, in order to check their availability by writing an e-mail to or calling the phone number (+39) 0552388671.

- Moreover, owing to the above-mentioned works, the photographic studio will not be accessible and, therefore, the service of photo reproduction will not be available.
